The outcrop of rocky terrain is a short walk from the village of Baslow in the Peak District.
I found the hillside on the left giving way to the view of the distant dales to be a pleasing contrast. Also their was the added attraction of "trying my hand" at painting the heather. However this proved to be a more difficult task than I had anticipated! The introduction of a wider, darker frame for this painting helps to portray a more dramatic scene.

My inspiration was taken from a painting by Geoff Kelsey
