Orford Castle, Suffolk

Orford Castle, Suffolk - different to what you might expect!

Not a very large castle as you can see, but I guess that could be part of its appeal. I visited it several times before, armed with a camera, I decided to try my hand at painting it. With the two very real cannons positioned at the bottom of the hill, which I am sure was not their original armament position, I was left intrigued. Definitely worth a visit especially if you are with children, who seem to derive endless pleasure in climbing the steep stairs inside and running up and down the many hill mounds in front and behind the castle.
